James Hedgeway Chairman, Traffic Safety Commission 17 Rural Way Duluth, Minn 12345 Re: Lack of Traffic Light or Stop Sign Dear Mr. Hedgeway, This letter is to follow up on my calls to your office asking you to install either a traffic light or at the very least a stop sign at the corner of Seminole Avenue and Pine Street. The high level of motor and pedestrian traffic at this intersection presents a perilous situation which places many people at risk. I recently visited police precinct 11 and learned that there have been five accidents at this intersection over the past year. In addition, school children have to cross this intersection every day that school is in session. They should not have to time their crossings to dodge oncoming vehicles. I believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and you have the authority and the means to prevent an accident which could have tragic consequences. As it now stands, our children are unnecessarily at risk and the city is in jeopardy of a lawsuit that would no doubt cost far more than a traffic light. Thank you for your prompt attention to this request. I look forward to hearing back from you soon. |
